Introduction

Your morning sets the tone for the rest of your day. By taking just 5–10 minutes each morning to focus on gratitude, you prime your mind for optimism, resilience, and creative flow. In this Morning Spark session, you’ll learn how a simple gratitude practice upon waking can boost your mood, sharpen your focus, and help you carry a sense of abundance into every decision you make. Ready to transform your first waking moments into powerful fuel for the day ahead? Let’s begin.

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough—and more.”

Insight & Reflection

Research shows that practicing gratitude first thing in the morning activates your brain’s reward centers, increasing levels of dopamine and serotonin—two neurotransmitters linked to pleasure, motivation, and well-being. By consciously acknowledging something positive at sunrise, you strengthen neural pathways that make recognizing blessings a habit rather than an afterthought.

  1. Dopamine Release
    – Sets up a reward cycle: you feel good for noticing something positive, so you repeat the behavior.
  2. Serotonin Boost
    – Enhances mood stability and reduces stress, creating a calm, confident mindset to tackle challenges.

Guided Prompts

Spend 5–10 minutes writing freely in response to these two morning prompts:

  1. Wake-Up Gratitude: List 2–3 specific things you’re grateful for right now (e.g., the aroma of coffee, your cozy blanket, a loved one’s smile).
  2. Gratitude Mantra: Craft a short affirmation that captures your morning intention (e.g., “I welcome abundance in every breath,” or “Today, I choose joy over worry”).

  2. The taste of my favorite green tea
